A GIRL ON A [FITNESS] MISSION
I’ve had quite the string of fitness ups and downs in my life. With pretty much every athletic endeavour I’ve thrown myself into, I’ve had time away from training through illness, injury or life getting in the way. And I know I’m not alone in this.
Chances are that you too have experienced how tough it can be to come back from a ‘fall from [athletic] grace’. Even more so when your body can no longer ‘wing it’ in the way it did in your early adulthood.
My disinterest in strength training eventually bit me on the ass – with an injury that required extensive physio and time out from the fitness I loved.
This was my turning point: I realised that my winging it days were over and if I wanted to carry on doing the things I loved, I was going to have to turn my attention to building strength.
KEEP ON MOVING
I also became fascinated with what the body is capable of if we move it properly – and how it can maladapt if we don’t.
I lost count of the false starts I had and the rabbit holes I disappeared down as I tried to understand and rebuild my body.
But I kept on going and eventually made progress – feeling the benefits of being able to move better and being able to get back to the fitness I loved.
Strength and movement training became something I found the time to do not just because I had to – but because I wanted to. And at the same time I realised this:
Where I *was* fitness wise no longer matters: it is where I am heading now that does.
DARE TO DREAM
Throughout my fitness life, there have always been helpful, knowledgeable and supportive coaches, friends and physios to guide me, cheer me on and fix me so that I may keep chasing my dreams.
And I decided that, with everything I have experienced, and the positive impact the changes I have made have had on my life, I wanted to be able to do the same for other people, too.
So I set about building on my existing knowledge and coaching qualifications and feeding the fascination I have with how our bodies move and the importance of staying active to preserve our quality of life.
And now I am able to help you to dream big and become unstoppable…to build a strong and resilient body and mind that will support you in the active life you want to live for yourself.
